Purgatory

A moment in purgatory
Enclosed in white walls
So slick you can see yourself
So thick nothing can seep in
I’m lying immobile in someone else’s clothes
Listening to minutes of silence
Time so pure it can deafen
I’m watching the bodies float in and roll out
Without words
Without comfort
The air so cold it drips into me
Never to touch me again
Waiting to die
Waiting to live again
Suspended beyond fear
A moment in purgatory
