Leave Alone

I saw her through you
And I watched you walk away
You held the door open
I looked in and he just walked past
And I saw him through you
Before I looked away

Lightening strikes in rainstorms
And you’re back at my door
Fumbling in grief in the dark
Fumbling over me

Now I see you through him
It’s his door where I stand
Him, in your world, that lets it out
Him, who never saw me
Him who you’ll never tell
And me you never leave alone

Choice

It’s a strange choice
A penny spinning on a table
Stuck in time
The moment dampens sound
And I’ve no voice to call
No choice
Old or new
Struck dumb
Kept away

Where you stand

Your words lay like footsteps
They fall loudly
And without direction
Helplessly I watch you move
You never forgot
And you never let go
I feel like a pawn
In your game
That you don’t know you’re playing
What is it that pulls you
When I push you away
What is it that pushes you
As I pull you back in
And I realise despite it all
You’ve never moved from where you stand
